I've been hearing from friends for quite a while about the talented Bryan John Appleby and was all anticipation for his stop off in the Bay Area while on his album release tour. He first performed a living room show with The Living at our friend Katie's home, and then performed at the Crepe Place the following evening. Both experiences were incredible in their own way, one was stripped down, lit only by candles and a small gathering of friends, while the other was a packed bar and a full band. Bryan's music translated beautifully in both venues: a sign of meticulous song crafting.

He just released his first full-length album, and it's worth you heading over right now to his bandcamp page and giving it a listen. You can also purchase and download it there too! It's such a well-rounded album that I'm having difficulty narrowing down my favorite tracks, but here are a few: Backseat, The Words of the Revelator, Honey Jars and The Lake (so glad he performed it for IMBS!). Not to mention that the lyrical narrative that flows through this album is some of the best writing I've heard!

He and the band have completed their current leg of tour, but like his facebook page to keep up on future shows! After filming his song, I got to discuss his songwriting, Flannery O'Connor and the Seattle music community with Bryan:
